Marcus
and Janelle, seventeen years old and in their senior year, met three years ago
at a Bible camp teaching kids about the Gospel. Ever since then, we have been
having encouraging and uplifting experiences together learning more about Jesus
and who He is.
Thankfully,
our friendship is full of significant conversations, prayer, and worship.
Both of our parents are divorced, and we have been forced to call pain and separation
normal. Marriage—what is meant to be united in love and, most of all, in Christ, has been obliterated in front of both of our eyes.
No
matter the example of separation in the past, most of our parents have been
saved by grace and are living examples of true disciples. They are
living examples of how wonderful the forgiveness Christ offers to all of His
children. Christ’s forgiveness is unexplainable, and we hope to share that
wonderful news with you in our posts through our experiences.
Marcus
attends high school in Texas while I attend high school in Montana. I have grown up in Montana my whole life; where my dad lives. We met in Texas
where my mom lives and where I visit for the summers and
holidays.
A
friendship requires time, sacrifice, and communication. That’s quite difficult
to do when Marcus and I live in completely opposite states. But things aren't easy all the time. Life requires flexibility and patience, and God likes
teaching his children that. We are working on saying, regardless of the heart ache
of missing each other as best friends, “God, thy will be done.”
Of
course we aren't perfect, and we haven’t lived anything close to perfect lives…
But both Marcus and I have experienced a life changing spiritual shower
where we have been washed by the blood of Jesus and transformed into a
life completely surrendered to the Lord; far more than we both deserve.
Even
though we have been transformed by saving grace, life is still a struggle, the
world still pulls at us.
Being
the writers of this blog, we hope to encourage you in telling the stories of
our lives and bringing the light of Christ into your daily experiences. We will
tell of our struggles, miracles, pain, restoration, and redemption to try and
encourage you and show you that you’re not alone in this world.
Whoever
you are, wherever you are. We know you have experienced pain, separation, and
failure. Reading this blog will be a source of encouragement. Please know that
our posts are based off the Bible and Spirit-led. We hope that our experiences speak truth to you from Christ himself. For He was the one who wrote these stories in the first place.
In
John 16:33 Jesus reminds us of a profound truth, “I have said these things to
you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation.
But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
If
you are suffering, so are we. If you are blown away by God’s great works and grace,
so are we. We want to share our experiences with you so that together we can
learn and deepen our relationship with the Lord. And as Marcus likes to say, “Invest
in people, for people are the only things on this world that will last forever.”
